Hilton Pond 08/08/03 (Albino Hummingbird)

After some delay--due to travel, failure in a cable line leading to York, and problems related to power outages in the Northeastern U.S.--we are finally able to post our account of last week's banding of an albino Ruby-throated Hummingbird at Chapel Hill NC.

For a photo essay on this very unusual bird, please visit "This Week at Hilton Pond" for the week of 8-14 August 2003 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek030808.html . Be sure to look for the photo of the albino's foot. :-)

Please be patient if the page is a little slow to load. There are lots of photos, and things like computer worms and server problems around the country may be affecting Internet speed.

Included as always is info about all birds banded and any recaptures during the period at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History near York SC.

If you're in the Charlotte NC area, we're holding our final scheduled "Hummingbird Mornings" presentations at McDowell Nature Preserve on the morning of 16 August. Details are at http://www.hiltonpond.org/HummingbirdMornings03Main.html
