Hi folks,
Yesterday (Aug 24) Joan and I went to Portsmouth
Island (just below Ocracoke) for a day of birding. The
flats were wet and the bugs were relatively scarce so
we had a super time!
Our best birds were a Long-billed Curlew and two
Reddish Egrets. We also had a single Wilson's
Phalarope, White-rumped Sandpipers, Piping Plovers,
Marbled Godwits and about 40 Black Terns, along with a
good variety of other shorebirds and terns. Great
trip!
