Hi Carolinabirders,
This morning I arrived at Huntington Beach S.P. at 7:40 and birded to
almost 11:30. It was cloudy and hot and humid, but around 11:00 the air
become briefly noticeably drier and colder. I talked to my son in Toms
River, NJ last night and he said they had sunny, dry and much colder
weather on Sunday, the 24th. I was a nice birding and butterflying day
with noticeable migrant warblers and shorebirds. Most of the shorebirds
appeared to be juveniles, lots of scaly backed juvenile looking
Semipalmated Sandpipers. I birded the south end of Mullet Pond where
most of the action was, the carriage path and the old entrance road to
the hollow. 46 species as follows:
Anhinga-1
Great Blue Heron-2
Great Egret-5
Snowy Egret- many mostly birds of the year
Little Blue Heron-2
Tricolored Heron-5
Night-Heron sp.-1
White Ibis-15
Glossy Ibis-4
Wood Stork-50

were immature Trees or Rough-wingeds

Tufted Titmouse-5
Carolina Wren-6
N. Mockingbird-1
White-eyed Vireo-1
Red-eyed Vireo-2

briefly saw the snow white underparts when it flew.
Prairie Warbler-1
Black and White Warbler-2 or 3 male and female
Am. Redstart-3
N. Waterthrush-1
Waterthrush sp.-3 couldn't get a diagnostic look at these.

musical compared song to recorded songs of both C. Wren and Kentucky.

Maybe tomorrow might even be better is there a front coming through?

Good birding,
