USS NARWHAL (SS-167)



Ignored by the Japanese, Narwhal escaped damage during the attack. She went on to conduct five war patrols, during which she sank six enemy ships. Later in the war she was used continually for special missions; mainly, the resupply or evacuation of Philippine guerillas. At war's end, Narwhal had been sent on 15 patrols.
