The second 'Eid festival, 'Eid al-Adha, follows two months after the first, and celebrates the story of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac at God's command. In remembrance of the ram that was sacrificed in his stead, 'Eid al-Adha is an opportunity for Muslims to sacrifice an animal in the name of God and use the meat to feed those who are less fortunate. The morning service for this 'Eid took place in the masjid in two shifts -- 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM -- due to the lack of available space for the burgeoning Muslim community. At the 7:30 shift, the women's prayer area spills out into the lobby of the Islamic center; here, young Hamza Baig blocks his mother's kneeling in an attempt to embrace her.
