“What if there was a library which held every book? Not every book on sale, or every important book, or even every book in English, but simply every book – a key part of our planet’s cultural legacy.”
In 2005 a small group met at the Internet Archive offices to establish The Open Content Alliance (OCA), a group of cultural, technology, nonprofit, and governmental organizations from around the world that will help build a permanent archive of multilingual digitized text and multimedia content.
Kirill Fesenko, Richard Szary, Simon Spero, and Donald Sizemore represented UNC at this year’s meeting. Discussion topics included updates on the OCA’s Scan on Demand, Print on Demand, and Open Library initiatives, over recurring themes of Open Standards and Open Access.
