Man your saga sounds eerily like mine. I spent nearly a total of $3000 trying to fix it.

What finally stopped the stalling was the failure of one of two sensors. I replaced both to make sure I didn't have the problem again. One was the camshaft position sensor and the other was the crankshaft position sensor. The ECU depends on those sensors to let it know, in simple terms, the car is running. If there is a signal loss from one of the sensors the ECU thinks the engine is off and shuts down, thus causing the stall. Since this is a normal operation of the sensor it is difficult to get an error code. Then the ECU and sensor need to reset themselves to let the engine run.

The sensors are relatively inexpensive. (about $25 each) I am not at all a mechanic and I replaced both of them myself. It took about 30 minutes and the problem has never returned. No special tools required.

I wish you the best of luck.

There was dancing. There was great food. There was great music -- check the list. There were hoopers. there were kids doing kid things.
Carrboro is becoming Cary so the flame of coolness has moved to the west to SXPHW.
