Microsoft & security

A trade off between security and ease of use? Can't have both, you know.
Silly us for asking.

Security is one of the most fundamental parts of a computer system. It
starts with the processor. There is an inherent contradiction between what
the 8088 and PC-DOS and personal computing started out to be, and the
demands that are being placed on it as bazillions of dollars, not to mention
vital confidential info, change hands. It will never work. There is far
too much complexity and flexibility, hence exposure, in windows clients,
which are nearly always administered by amateurs.

Think thin, really really thin, client. Critical apps belong on raised
platform flooring, backed up and secured by lab-coated beehive-wearing
professionals like in the old days.
