Chapel Hill Food Not Bombs Update

The Chapel Hill Chapter of FOOD NOT BOMBS will continue to cook and serve (free) vegetarian food throughout the summer. We're always on the lookout for some extra hands for cooking or some more mouths to feed, so join us on Sunday afternoons and spread the word.

WHY?

Every day, more food is wasted than is needed by those who don't have enough to eat. Over 46 billion pounds of food are wasted yearly, only 4 billion pounds of food per year would completely end hunger in the United States. FOOD NOT BOMBS takes healthy vegetables and grains that would otherwise be discarded and creates great, free meals.

While our goal is to feed the hungry, it is also our aim to get community members involved, so anyone who wants to eat is invited. By eating or cooking with FOOD NOT BOMBS, one is protesting our society's neglect of its poor and hungry and closing the gap between the homeless and the rest of the Community.

HOW?

Chapel Hill FOOD NOT BOMBS is made possible by donations from local businesses. Many restaurants and grocery stores are forced to throw away good food because it is unsellable. If your business falls into this category, and you want that food to be put to a good cause, please contact Food Not Bombs.

If you would like to help cook or if you have any questions, please call us at 942-2306. Come to our servings, at 3:30 p.m. every Sunday in front of Internationalist Books on 405 West Franklin Street.
