========================version 1.1================================= added a new entry 'host' in xwall protocol modified code to support the entry 'host' and removed some redundent steps in xwall(1). modified code to support the entry 'host' entry in xwalld(1). also refined the appearance of the pop-up window. also made YYLMAX confirm with DATA_MAXLEN. tianhua han than@lucent.com Mon Jan 27 13:03:39 EST 1997 ========================version 1.0================================== xwall/xwalld is the client/server implemetation of the xwall protocol. you can integrate it into your xdm(1) login. i have ported it on my solaris 2.5 machines. but it is also easily to port on other os by minor modification. why need this ware? when user logins through xdm(1), there may be no tty associated with his/her x session. so wall(1) won't work for this case. xwall is only a suppliment for wall(1). it is, however, not supposed to be a replacement for wall(1). but it is very easy to integrate xwall with wall(1) through a shell script so that you don't have to type the same message twice. this package is developped by myself. it does nothing with the existing xwall of someone else. this is why i name it as 'txwall'. but the executalbles share the same name. after 'make install', you will get xwalld -- server running as daemon xwall -- client xwall(1) -- man page for xwall/xwalld. xwall(5) -- man page for xwall protocol NOTE: if you have already installed somebody else's xwall package, please save it before install this one. or change the names of mine. the xwall is a set-gid file. so you need to change its mode and owner after you install it. see xwall(1) for more information. to install: modify the makefile make install to integrate it into xdm(1), see the xwall(1). tianhua han tian@aluxpo.micro.lucent.com than@lucent.com Sat Jan 25 21:24:07 EST 1997
