I appreciate seeing this helpful attitude, especially with
devices that have apparently acheved speculative commodoties/
hoarder status.

I notice AES is running ads in the Antique Radio Classified
asking FOR 45 tubes, both NOS and used. Looks like they've
gone the way of Western Electric 300Bs.

Just tried the site and it worked fine. Note the "linux" in the
address. That's a version of Unix which is designed to run on an
ordinary desktop PC. Probably the machine can handle only a few users
at a time. Suggest you try again and be real patient.

Your welcome. We glowbuggers should help each other out as often as we can!
Keeps the spirit going. Hopefully I can spot a 45 or two in a box of tubes
this weekend. I just have to check while looking through the auction stock.
No gaurantees I'll find one but if I do the list members will know next
Monday. Are you the one who needs the tube?

Yes, and not to start a religious war or anything, I really don't think
they should be used as GB project tubes.
I mean, 2.5v filament without a cathode, a measly 2 watt output? Why not
leave the few that are left for those fine old Philco cathedrals?

I backed up to /hamradio & found a tubes directory which had
http://linux.hqisec.army.mil/hamradio/tube/tubefind.html in it's directory.
Clicked on /tubefind.html and punched in a tube type. Full results
(including diagram) came back. Didn't know it was there until I went
exploring on the HTTP line... Not hacking, just looking.

Well some people use them for audio amps, others (like me) want to try one
QRP.
I could get out with 2 watts...
But I'd rather find the tube in a box of other types then pay A.E.S a high
price for one! First 45 I get goes to whoever on the list needed one for a
radio set. Wish me luck this weekend huh? Hopefully I'll find one. They
have turned up in a box of used tubes before. If not then somebody misses
out on a cheap (untested) tube...
