Hi....the Eimac 8295A is a beam pentode for both AB1 and class C
service. Maximum Plate Dissapation is 1000 Watts, Screen Dissipation is
30 watts, Grid is 5 watts. It is very efficient even at lower plate
voltages, with the max rated voltage at 3000 volts, max plate current at
1.0 amp, for class AB1 and 800 ma for class C operation. Typical
operation is 3 kv at the plate, 500 on the screen, 820 ma. plate current
and derives about 1770 watts of output power with 2.1 watts drive on the
grid in class C, and 800 ma. in AB1 service. The max freq for full
ratings is 30 mhz. Filament voltage is 6.0@8.2 amps.

Eimac recommends the SK-184 socket, with air flow required for operation
at any level.

I dont have a pinout diagram available right now, but might be in
another book. So, if you need those, let me know and I'll look for
the rest of my Eimac info. Good luck...this should make a great
linear.

Subject: My tube symbols for the Visio drawing program
Message-ID: <3.0.32.19970221153625.009e6890@165.247.88.2>

Hi gang--

I just placed a ZIP file on my FTP site for general downloads, containing
my tube symbols for the popular Visio drawing program. This is freeware,
no payment expected. All symbols are original with me and are not based on
the two or three tube symbols Visio included (remarkably) in their Visio
Technical 4.0 product.

The ZIP contains separate stencil files for Visio 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. If
you only have Visio 1.0 you're out of luck, as I can't export to that
format anymore. You do need at least Visio 2.0 to access the symbols. I
don't think any other program can import them.

I've added a lot of symbols fairly recently, including pentagrid converter,
tetrode/dual diode, gas regulator, and a combo symbol of a 5U4-style
rectifier and the transformer it works with. So if you downloaded this
file six months ago, you have only about half of what's in the new one.

Visio Technical produces *gorgeous* schematics, and with my tube symbols
you can use it to draw any reasonable glowbug circuit. The collection
still lacks CRTs, magic eye tubes, those mixer tubes called out in early
sideband exciters ("sheet beam"?) and most of the multi-unit Compactron
combinations. I add symbols as I need them, and sooner or later I'll have
them all.

So come and get 'em; the URL is:

ftp://ftp.coriolis/com/pub/Shareware/vistube.zip

Note the capital "S" in "Shareware." Unix systems are case-sensitive, so
make sure you upcase that S!

The file 6L635W.doc is also there; it's a Visio drawing of my 35W 6l6 rig,
embedded in an MS Word document so you don't need Visio to view it. They
look better in Visio, tho.

Let me know if you have trouble accessing the file.

Is there any chance that you can convert these to GIF format symbols
for us? Is there any facility for format conversions like that in
VISIO?

Thanks...

Does anyone know if EIMAC still give out the free books of tube
data like they used to?

I seem to remember sending off for one about 15-20 years ago and
getting back a very nice yellow paperback catalog about 5/16" thick
with data on all of their nice power bottles!

Hmmm... I'm not missing any mail from Glowbugs. Been getting it every day.
The past few days the posts have slowed down to maybe 3 per day though...

Hi Steve...I think Eimac still has a dealer in UK...but to be sure,
I'd write them at the address I gave Oscar...I'm sure they'll let
you know. As for price...I've never bought a power tube from Eimac
that didnt give my wallet a jolt, but always been worth the extra
bux. If you are interested in building an amp, I'd look at the
glass bottles for HF...they're a bit more resonable. But, the
3CX1200A7 is a good choice at about $400 us dollars.

good luck

Hi Bry...good to hear from you again. My Eimac book is a bit on the
old side...a couple years I think. But, write or call them and ask
for one of the engineers...I believe they can be of help. I've always
had excellent response from Eimac....both on commercial ventures and
amatuer....good folks.
