July 31, 1993 **************** I n f o T r a c T F D 7.0 ***************** InfoTrac TFD is a microcomputer implementation of the Transcription Factor Database TFD (D. Ghosh; NAR 18 (1990): 1749-1756) with a graphical user interface. For detailed information on the structure of TFD data fields refer to the cited references (D.Ghosh; NAR 20 (1992): 2091-2093 and TIBS 16 (1991): 445-447). InfoTrac TFD requires Filemaker Pro 2.0 for Macintosh or Windows. InfoTrac TFD Demos are available from various e-mail servers, ftp-archives or gopher holes (look for InfoTrac-TFD_Demo.hqx or INFOTRAC.EXE). Demos can also be requested from the regular mailing address listed below. - Demos (for the Mac) must be de-binhexed using Stuffit. The resulting self-extracting archive can then be opened by double-clicking the icon InfoTracTFD_Demo.sea. After extracting all six files double-click on InfoTrac and use the Help-menu to get instructions on how to use InfoTrac TFD. - Demos (for Windows) must first be copied to a harddisk. In DOS C:\ prompt type Infotrac to activate a self-extracting archive. After extracting all six files run InfoTrac and use the Help-menu to get instructions on how to use InfoTrac TFD. The complete version of InfoTrac TFD 7.0 (based on Release 7.0 of TFD) requires currently approx. 12 MB harddisk space and is distributed on 4 HD floppy disks. The database is distributed as shareware to cover the mailing and reproduction costs. InfoTrac TFD is compressed with Compact Pro (for the Mac) or PKZIP (for Windows) as a self-extracting archive. Follow the accompanying instructions for installation on your harddrive. InfoTrac TFD is made available to you by: Wolfgang G.
