NOTES loopDloop versions 1.2a63 and 1.2a64 No bug fixes or new features have been added since the release of June 1993. These two versions do remove the expiration date of the software, so you may continue using them. Also, the version named "loopDloop.68k-FPU" (1.2a64) is compiled to run specifically on Macintoshes with a Moto. 68020 to 68040 microprocessor and a math floating point unit (FPU). The other version, "loopDloop" (1.2a63) is not quite as fast on those Macintoshes, but will run on Macs without a 68000-FPU, including the PowerPC Macs. It is however, not particularly fast on a PowerMac, because it has no native PPC code. If the program fails when you first try to run it, make sure a) there is a printer chosen in Chooser. There is some kind of MacApp bug that causes the program to fail if you have no printer chosen. Even if you have no printer, make sure Chooser thinks you do. b) delete any System Folder:Preferences:loopDloop Preferences file, in case it became corrupted. c) maybe for luck also make sure that there is a user name and mac name installed in the "Sharing Setup" control panel (system 7), even if you don't turn on file sharing, and even if your mac isn't on a network. This bug bit various versions of WordPerfect, maybe also seqapp. This will likely be the last version of loopDloop as a Macintosh-only program, based on Apple Computer's MacApp development framework. As Apple Computer abandon its developers by letting its MacApp and other programmers' tools fall into a state of disrepair between 1991-1994, it became very hard to be a Macintosh-only programmer. This Apple mess led me to build a cross-platform application framework. A successor to loopDloop will be written in this framework. This new program is not available yet. When it is, it will work on Macintosh (including native PowerMac), MS Windows and X Windows systems. Watch for it at . -- Don Gilbert, 18 July 94
