HDprobe1.2 February 1, 1996 mbs@pa.net HDProbe is a Shareware program, written for the Macintosh, that matches a probe sequence against a set of alleles and tabulates stable and unstable mismatches (Zimmerman et al, 1995, BioTechniques 19: No. 6, 972-977). HDProbe accepts probe and allele sequences as input, then displays the sequences with respect to their orientation in a heteroduplex molecule (positive-strand of the probe (P+) compared to negative-strands of alleles (A-); reciprocal orientation is also provided). All files used, i.e. probes and alleles, must be text files. The HDprobe manual describes, with an example, how to obtain the results presented in the paper. Included in the example is the format of the input data and of the displayed and printed output. In addition, the manual contains information on error messages and program restrictions.
