MacPlasmap v2.1 demo Read Me MacPlasmap is a Macintosh program for drawing plasmid maps and mapping restriction sites from DNA sequences. With MacPlasmap version 2.1, you can ¥ Draw plasmid maps with special tools for fast entry and accurate placement of restriction sites and genes on a map. Plasmid maps can be created with or without DNA sequences. Restriction sites can be automatically identified if DNA sequences are available. Sites and genes can be drawn with various styles, colors and symbols. Circular maps can be rotated and converted to linear maps at any point of the map. ¥ Manipulate maps in various ways. Map features (sites and genes) can be cut/copied/pasted within or between maps. Map regions can be deleted/inserted/inverted. These functions allow new maps to be easily constructed from pre-existing ones. ¥ Import sites and genes from a variety of sources, including feature tables from GenBank and EMBL sequence files, PICT files generated from other DNA analysis programs, and tab- or comma-delimited TEXT files containing feature descriptions. ¥ Export plasmid maps to other programs via the PICT format. ¥ Print high-resolution maps for publication or presentation. This demo version has all the functions of the regular program except that maps can not be saved, printed, or exported. MacPlasmap version 2.1 is available from CGC Scientific, Inc. for $245. More information about the program, including ordering information, can be found in the ¥About Demo... item of the on-line help, under the Apple menu of the program.
