P1 clones Stack version 1.01 March, 1992 This is a simple HyperCard stack for keeping track of clones that were constructed with the bacteriophage P1 cloning system. Usually a clone will have the following information: a name, an approximate size, some sequence information from the left and right ends of the cloned insert, and maybe some internal sequence information. The stack consists of an Index card and a set of clone cards. The Index card contains the names of clones in a scrolling field. Clicking on a name takes you to the card for that clone. A New button is available for adding new clones to the stack. Each clone card contains the following information about a clone: its name, a number, approximate size, DNA sequence information for the left and right ends of the inserted DNA and for internal sequence information. When you obtain a new clone just make a new card for it, give it a name and number, and enter any sequence information that you have into the text field. Click on the buttons for the left end, right end or internal sequences for the appropriate text field. The information on the card can be printed out or the sequence in a field can be saved to a file in PIR format for use with other sequence analysis software. Short sequences can be searched for with the Find button. The p1clones.hqx is a binhex encoded version of the .sit file which can be transferred in text modes. You can use Stuffit to decode the binhex file and then unstuff the resulting sit file. If you use this software for studies that result in publication, please cite as: Abremski, K.E. 1992.
