I received this fax notice this weekend. Perhaps it's not too late for our
Japanese colleagues and those who may be traveling in Japan at the time.
I will report in full on all of my Japanese experiences (including my earlier
tour of MITI Labs, Tsukuba University, etc.) on my return from the Symposium.

THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ARTIFICIAL REALITY AND TELE-EXISTENCE

Recently, "Artificial Reality" (AR), "Virtual Reality" (VR), and
"Tele-Existence" technologies have been getting more and more attention.

The realization of AR and VR technologies are sure to have a
great impact on the way people interface with computers in the fields of
architecture, medical science, and space development, as well as in
education and the entertainment world. In consequence, the industrial
structure of society and human potential will change greatly with the
increased use of computers.

Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc., is holding the "AR International
Symposium," joining with the Japan Technology Transfer Association. We
are aiming to conduct this Symposium to bring together experts, researchers,
and people in international industries, with an opportunity for communica-
tion and discussion. We are looking forward to as many participating as
possible, from across the world.
