We are experimenting with putting short "blips" at the beginning of
subject lines, to assist you in selecting what you want to read and
what is disintegrated.

Here is our current bliplist:

TECH: Hard technology, codes, software, hardware, etc.
APPS: Applications of virtual worlds in various domains
SCI: Scientific issues, like how light refracts, etc.
CULTURE: Notes on virtual worlds and social phenomena
PHIL: Deep and profound discussions of virtuality, etc.
        JOB: Just what it says
EDUC: Having to do with schooling in the field
CONF: Probably the most overused blip, for conferences
        ADMIN: Items of administrative importance

We are reserving for special occasions the NEWS blip, to announce events
of special significance: meetings of policy groups, announcements of
breathtaking technical significance, when virtual worlds vanquish HDTV,
and so forth.

Held in reserve, also, is a special symbol, the Awestruck Smiley:

                                %-)

The Moderators may use this to indicate items of special or unusual
interest and/or quality. However, as posters can implant this device
of their own accord, please take it with a grain of salt. There is no
warranty for good taste.

Thanks, and let's see how this works out!
