The ENEWS ( Effectiveness of Naval Electronic Warfare Systems ) program at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory has recently begun a virtual env- ironments project with the goal of simulating naval warfare scenarios within virtual space for tactical and strategic evaluation. At present, our lab consists of two SG VGX machines and several PIs. The work is be- ing done by two GW graduate students ( I'm one of them ) under the dir- ection of Dr. Allen Duckworth. I'll probably have more to say on what we're doing as soon as I find out myself. Like I mentioned, the project is very new and our focus of attention has not yet been determined. We'd be interested in talking with anyone who might be working in this application of virtual worlds, particulary other military labs. Thanks. _______________________________________________________________________ Rudy Darken The George Washington University darken@seas.gwu.edu The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (202)404-7615 _______________________________________________________________________
