Pick up a copy of the Lehman's Non-electric catalog and
order a Clivus Multrum Composting toilet. They are
odor-free, require a cup of peat moss per day, and
should be turned after each use with the handle, and
need to have an electric booster if used frequently in
freezing conditions. They are not cheap, but they are
recognized by most codes, and are used by the Forestry
Service for tourist facilities. They also sell a non-
electric incinerating toilet which is your other choice.

Latrines are forbidden in most areas, and anything
different enough from a latrine to be allowed is close
enough to a composting toilet to warrant buying one
off the shelf, instead of re-discovering all the mis-
takes that were made in developing them.
