>Another comment about your data! Agent Orange is not 2-4-d. Agent
>Orange was 2-4-5-T. That's a heck of a differnce,

Agent orange is a chlorinated phenoxy herbicide made up of both
2,4-D and 2,4,5-T it was not one or the other but rather a brew of
the two as well of a host of other ingredients. It is, like many
pesticides heavily contaminated with dioxins during manufacture.

This may be so but not relevant. There are 285 studies that
indicate 2,4-d when used as directed causes health problems.
Studies done of farmers who apply 2,4-d at rates considerably lower
than the average person would use on his or her lawn indicate it
causes non hodgkins lymphoma. Studies of dogs of homeowners
indicates it causes cancers in the dogs of homeowners. You aviod
the issue, that is that 2,4-d is highly toxic, leads to many
serious illnesses and should not be used on food, in gardens or
around children.

> Many of the crews refused to take protective measure to prevent
>the problems??

In the Saskatchewan / Nebraska study farmers who wore protective
garments, disposable coveralls, plastic gloves, boots and
respirator were only able to reduce thier risk to specific types of
cancer by 20%. Consider that the use of these herbicides caused a
600% increase in thier chance of getting cancer.

When was the last time you saw a lawn care applicator wearing a
respirator or disposable suit?

I agree and anyone considering the use of any one of the 1,500
garden products that are known to have 2,4-D should get

Human Health Effects associated with Exposure to Herbicides and or
their associated contaminents-Clorinated dioxins. Published by the
national vetrans legal services project. 2001 S Street NW

I am not suggesting "give all chemistry up" only give up on man
made compounds that are proving to cause more problems than they
solve.
