As part of the Crusader upgrade program, 61 F-8Bs were remanufactured 
as F-8Ls.  Most of them went to Marine Corps squadrons, although a few 
Navy utility squadrons operated this planes.  The F-8L differed from 
the F-8B in having underwing pylons and a new cockpit lighting system.
