I forgot that I wanted to combine my small bit of notes on the Cornish 'dual number' with these following notes so I'm making a quick second post. These notes contain material to be found in (Norris,1968v2:235). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The vocative or direct address in Cornish is done with the preposition/ particle _a_ which will cause the Cornish soft mutation (/p/>/b/ /t/>/d/ /k/>/g/ /b/>/v/ /m/>/v/ and /d/>/DH/) to the following word: a vam (mam) O mother a venen (benen) O woman a vaow (maow) O boy This can also be done with the pronoun which will be followed as well by the soft mutation: ty venen you woman ty vaow you boy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anthony Velasquez Oregon State Univeristy (E-mail) velasqua@ucs.orst.edu =========================================================================
