might not think of as plural at all if you were brought up speaking other languages. I don't think it's specifically parts of the body, though -- isn't ``deupen'' the same formation? This would be two matched ends of something, like the same piece of string, or the same journey, rather than the two heads of a mythical beast. Words like `deutu' (o ddeutu -- around, lit. at both sides) `deuparth', `deuddydd', `deugain', and so on, none of which mean quite the same as the corresponding two-of forms. They seem to hint at `together'. g
