For some time I've been trying to find out about the origin of the mutation of direct objects in sentences like Fe welais i dy+ bach. Or of subjects in inversion constructios like Oes gen i baned o de. Yma mae yn gorsedd gorff (Enw). Or occasionally of verbs Rhaid i fi fynd. I read somewhere that this mutation originally was triggered by certain verb forms, but haven't found anything more specific than that. Does anyone out there know about this or know of a good book on the subject (in ang language)?
