Mira Rafalowicz, a writer, a dramaturg, a playwright, a poet, a teacher, an inspiration, succumbed to a long battle with cancer in Amsterdam, Holland. She was the force and the inspiration behind the International Yiddish Festival which took place in Amsterdam for several years. She inspired a generation of young klezmer and yiddish artists in Holland and all over the world with her passion , intelligence, wit, and caring heart. In this moment of sadness, friends here in New York are contemplating a shloshim memorial for her. If anyone would like to help organize such an event, please contact me at the Workmen's Circle at 212 889 6800 ext.207.
