Did his son write anything about his famous, or infamous, Dad? Also, are there any new editions of his work? I mean newer than the '50s? Marjorie Schonhaut Hirshan 3)---------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 26 Apr 1996 15:15:13 -0400 From: shirshan@aol.com Subject: The use of capital letters Can anyone explain why some of the Mendelniks, whose postings make them appear to be believers in standardization of Yiddish and all of its rules, ignore the standardized English use of capitalizations. Is it far-fetched to think that it is because Yiddish has no capital letters? Because Yiddish has no capital letters, would it be improper (according to Yivo) to use capitalizations when writing in transliteration? In the last paragraph of my post "Two more daytshmerisms" (5..307,7 of April 22, 1996) a regrettable typographical error appeared: the word "matrimonial" was printed in place of the correct _matrilineal_. Given the recent joy over the Knesset's resolutions ,these negative actions raise anxious questions. Can the Galays or L. Botwinik or someone else close to the scene in Israel please tell us what is happening? Is there some misunderstanding? Did we celebrate too soon? I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible.
