The 1994 World Congress, sponsored by the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) and the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM), and hosted by the corresponding Brazilian societies, is the first to take place in a developing country and will certainly bring a major contribution to the growth of the area in Latin America.
