CALL FOR PAPERS Third International Symposium on High-Performance Distributed Computing (HPDC-3) Westin St. Francis Hotel, San Francisco, California August 3-5, 1994 (Tutorials: August 2) SPONSORS: - IEEE Computer Society - Northeast Parallel Architectures Center at Syracuse University IN COOPERATION WITH: - ACM SIGCOMM - Rome Laboratory THEME: The International Symposium on High Performance Distributed Computing provides a forum for presenting the latest research findings that unify parallel and distributed computing. In HPDC environments, parallel or distributed computing techniques are applied to the solution of computationally intensive applications across networks of computers. This symposium follows two successful earlier conferences held in Syracuse, NY and Spokane, WA in 1992 and 1993, respectively. Authors are invited to submit full papers on all aspects of high performance distributed computing in a networked environment. Papers may address either theory and practice, but those that deal with experimental results and prototypes are of particular interest. Papers receiving the best reviews will also be considered for publication in a special issue of the journal Concurrency: Practice and Experience on high-performance distributed computing. TOPICS OF INTEREST: - Parallel and distributed algorithms to solve computationally intensive problems across a LAN, MAN, or WAN. - Efficient communication interfaces for distributed computing - High-speed network architectures - Communication protocols for high-speed application-to-application transfers - Software tools for high-performance distributed computing (communications, resource allocation, load balancing) - High-performance I/O and file systems - HPDC applications and case studies - Performance evaluation of experimental systems to solve supercomputing applications across a network of computers.
