March 22, 1996: A profile of cabaret singer Lynda Jamison, a Pittsburgh native, whose career is taking off with favorable attention. She got a late start at age 50. March 23, 1996: Cutaway -- The piece "Green" was played from Ken Nordine's re-released CD "Colors" (Asphodel 075302709542). March 24, 1996: Liane Hansen and Andy Trudeau spoke about the Oscar-nominated soundtracks to "Apollo 13" (MCA Records-MCA3P-3432), "Nixon" (Illusion/Hollywood HI-62043-2), "Sense and Sensibility" (Sony SK-62258), "Il Postino" (Miramax/Hollywood MH-62029-2), and "Braveheart" (London Records -- 448 295-2). Andy Trudeau also profiled some other soundtracks that he thought were overlooked: "First Knight" (Epic EK 67270), "The Scarlet Letter" (Epic EK 67431), "How to Make An American Quilt" (MCA MCAD-11373), and "Waterworld" (MCA MCAD-11282). Their legend--and a parallel "misplaced energy" so rampant in the modern world--inspired composer/conductor James MacMillan to write "The Berserking," a concerto for piano and orchestra. Martin talks with the young Scottish composer about his latest CD recording ["The Berserking"/RCA Victor Red Seal 09026-68328-2].
