COMING UP ON - NPR'S PERFORMANCE TODAY - MARCH 27 - APRIL 1, 1996 Thursday, April 4 Hour 1--Chant recordings by the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos are second and fourth on the classical music charts this week--and one of them has even gone platinum. Now the former monk and choir director responsible for the best-selling Gregorian chant CDs, Ismael Fernandez de la Cuesta, has formed a new group, the Gregorian Chant Choir of Spain. Stopping by NPR during the choir's U.S. tour, Fernandez talks with Martin about the appeal of this ancient music in modern times.
