Yet Tchaikovsky's "Ode to Joy," which features the same text by Schiller that Beethoven used in his Ninth Symphony, is a powerful work in its own right. To mark the composer's birthday, PT commentator Tim Smith, music critic for the Ft.Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, reviews the first commercial CD recording of Tchaikovsky's "Ode to Joy."
