But the Cuban-born composer (1896-1963) wrote more than 406 songs, 50 theatrical works, including operas and operettas, 11 film scores, 31 orchestral works, 175 piano solos, 5 ballets, and the well-known piece "Malaguena." On the 100th anniversary of Lecuona's birth, Martin talks with pianist Thomas Tirino (teer-REE-no), who is single-handedly compiling the composer's work and next month will release the third of six CDs featuring Lecuona's compositions for piano.
