And Leonard Slatkin conducts the Juilliard Orchestra in the Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis. Monday, October 14 Hour 1-- Cecilia Bartoli's voice has been called rich, unforgettable, gorgeous and truly distinctive, yet she hasn't recorded in almost two years. Now with a much-anticipated new CD just released, it seems as though it has been worth the wait. PT commentator Barrymore Laurence Scherer reviews Bartoli's "Chant d'Amour." [London 452 667-2] Tuesday, October 15 Hour 1--Martin speaks with Percy Grainger authority, Barry Ould about the huge Grainger project that he has just undertaken for Chandos Records. Over the next few years, Ould will pull together the complete chamber, orchestral and choral music of Percy Grainger, some pieces never heard before or recorded. This will mark the first comprehensive survey of the artist's work. Thursday, October 17 Hour 2--Martin and critic Ted Libbey pay another visit to the PT Basic Record Library in the last segment of Ted's Great ABCs of the World's most popular operas. This week they discuss Georges Bizet's "Carmen." Friday, October 18 Hour 1--If you've seen the television ads for "A Diamond is Forever" then you've heard the music of composer Karl Jenkin's. In this hour, Martin talks to the composer about the popular success of his music and his latest CD with the London Philharmonic called "Diamond Music."
