Wednesday, November 27 Hour 2--Rachel Franklin reviews two new recordings by Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen. One disc features a massive, seldom-performed piece by Paul Hindemith called "Ludus Tonalis" (London 444 803-2). The other is a collection of variations, dances and bagatelles by Ludwig van Beethoven (London 452 206-2). Thursday, November 28 Hour 1--For Thanksgiving Day, we welcome the Waverly Consort back to NPR's Studio 4A for a program of early American songs -- taken from their EMI "American Journeys." Hour 2--Martin and critic Ted Libbey pay another visit to the PT Basic Record Library. Continuing his month-long exploration of spiritual choral works, Ted highlights outstanding recordings of "A German Requiem" by Johannes Brahms. Friday, November 29 Hour 1--Another session in NPR's Studio 4A: Members of the New York-based early music ensemble ARTEK perform music from the Italian Baroque, as featured on their new CD "Love Letters from Italy" (Lyrichord LEMS 8026). Sunday, DECEMBER 1 Hour 2--Critic Ted Libbey and Martin call on the PT Basic Record Library once again. Today, Ted Libbey adds the "Concerto for Orchestra" by Bela Bartok.
