COMING UP ON NPR's PERFORMANCE TODAY - JANUARY 6 - JANUARY 10, 1997 Monday, JANUARY 6, 1997 Hour 2--We'll revisit a performance by one of the delightful and extremely talented artists we've found along the ten-year road: violinist Chee-Yun, who with pianist Akira Eguchi inaugurated NPR's new headquarters with the very first music performance from our new studios, in March of 1994. We'll also listen back to one of the truly memorable studio performances turned in by a PT musical guest: clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and his pianist/producer Jeremy Wall, to share music from his then-new RCA CD called "Visions," a collection of cinematic themes ranging from "Out of Africa" to "The Lion King." And our celebration of the tenth anniversary of Performance Today on NPR continues with a reminder of the what was lost in 1990, the year of Leonard Bernstein's and Aaron Copland's deaths. The contributors included three of America's most influential conductors, Leonard Slatkin, Marin Alsop and Gerard Schwarz...as well as author and commentator Michael Steinberg.
