For People First...for a change. Clinton-Gore '92 National Talking Points Friday, October 2, 1992 George Bush has received his final grade on his jobs report card. And he's failed miserably. But it is time to move on, time to move forward, time to move George Bush out of the White House. Unemployment statistics today reconfirm what working Americans already know--we cannot afford four more years of George Bush. Trickle down economics has created a tidal wave of unemployment and today's figures show us that more discouraged workers are leaving the labor force altogether. * Today, 9.6 million Americans are unemployed, 3 million more than when George Bush took office in January, 1989. George Bush promised 30 million new jobs in 8 years but at his rate, it would take 100 more years to reach this goal. * Today, the national unemployment rate stands at 7.5 percent, up 44% when George Bush took office in January, 1989. * Today, 17 million Americans want full-time work and can't find it, over 4 million more than when George Bush took office. * Today, as a nation, we have lost 35,000 private sector jobs since George Bush took office. We have lost 1.4 million manufacturing jobs and government employment now exceeds manufacturing employment. For every "new" job created under Bush, there are 3 newly unemployed workers and 3 personal bankruptcies. There's only one more American who should lose his job before we can move forward--George Bush. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: A recession is when your neighbor is out work. A depression is when you are out of work. A recovery is when George Bush is out of work. But one month and a day from today, Americans will have their chance to vote for change. Without any help from Reagan-Bush policies, Arkansas created the strongest job growth in the nation, created manufacturing jobs at ten times the national average, doubled its exports, and helped 17,000 people leave welfare for training and work. And Arkansas incomes have grown more than any state in the nation. BE CREATIVE, MAKE NEWS: California held a press conference yesterday and unveiled 100 new economists for Clinton-Gore.
