VALENTIN STEPANKOV HAS BEEN DISMISSED FROM THE POST OF
PROCURATOR GENERAL BY A DECREE OF RUSSIAN PRESIDENT
This was told to the PostFactum news agency correspondent by
the press service of Russian president. Alexey Kazannik was
appointed as Procurator General of the Russian Federation.

RUSSIAN EXPERTS RECKON THAT UKRAINE CANNOT KEEP NUCLEAR
AMMUNITION PROPERLY
This was told by Grigory Karasin, director for information
and press of the Russian Federation, at a briefing at the press
center of the Russian foreign ministry in connection with reports
about the disturbing situation at a depot of nuclear ammunition
near the Ukrainian city of Pervomaisk. A group of Russian
specialists in mid-September carried out inspection of this
depot. The have made a conclusion that because this depot is 6-8
times overloaded, the interior temperature has increased by one
degree with a rise in the radioactive background. The filling of
the depot which exceeds the norms is a potential threat. Besides,
experts reckon that maintenance of the ammunition is bad, one of
the reason being absence of spare parts.
The commission reckons that nuclear warheads which are
withdrawn off duty should be immediately sent to enterprises of
the ministry of atomic energy for dismantling and utilization.
