RUSSIAN PRIVATE FARMERS SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT OF THE
RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND INTEND TO TAKE PART IN THE ELECTIONS
October 6 during a press conference given by the
Association of the peasant and private farmer producers of Russia
and by Yury Chernichenko, the Charman of the Peasant Party of
Russia, it was said that the farmers of the Russian Federation
were in support of the president of the Russian Federation and of
the government of the Russian Federation. In the words of the
participants of the press conference, cargoes have arrived and
continue to arrive in Moscow of agricultural produce which have
been donated by farmers from many regions of the country.
The participants of the same press conference also said
that the provate farmer movement of the Russian Federation has
increased this year their contribution to the national gross
agricultural product to the value of 6 percent, as against 1
percent - the figure which, they claimed, was the share in 1992.
Answering questions of "PF" correspondent about the
participation of peasant and private farmer associations in the
announced and coming elections, the participants of the press
conference declared that both the Association of the peasant and
private farmer producers, and the Peasant Party of Russia had
taken the decision to join the Choice of Russia election block.
The influence of the private farmer associations on the political
power of the Russian Federation should be considerably
increasing, in the opinion of those who spoke at the press
conference.
Commenting on the current political situation, Yury
Chernichenko noted that "now when the forces of reaction are in
the state of knock-out, the president and government of the
Russian Federation should take the land forever from the Soviets,
to eliminate the Agrarian Union headed by Starodubtsev, an
Emergency Committee member, and to introduce full private
property for land."

will have to resolve a number of matters to take stock of the

services. Besides, they will have to review the national status
of certain buildings of the former Supreme Soviet of the Russian
Federation whose personnel considered matters which are parallell
to problems considered in the government. Mr.Karmanov told "PF"
that the repairs of the White House will cost scores of millions
of dollars.

DMITRY TULIN; THE CENTRAL BANK OF RUSSIA IS SURPRISED AT
THE REPERCUSSIONS CAUSED BY THE PUBLISHIHNG OF THE INSTRUCTION ON
BANNING FOREIGN CURRENCIES IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
October 6 the press were addressed by Dmitry Tulin of the
Central Bank who said the instruction was in accord to the law
"On the Bank". It is , he said , in conformity with the general
economic, financial and monetory policy of this state and is a
logical continuation of the casue of strengthening the national
currency. He said he was surprised at the reaction of the
public. He said the instruction will change little in the life of
private citizens or enterprises since the rule does not affect
the conditions for accumulating the hard currency. But one is not
going to be able to pay in shops except in roubles in cash.
Starting January 1 it is going to be either roubles cash or
credit cards in hard currency. He said this step will make the
rouble stronger in the long perspective.
