Sysvfs is an implementation of the System V and Coherent and Xenix
filesystems for Linux. It grew out of separate filesystem implementations

Xenix FS Doug Evans <dje@cygnus.com> June 1992
  SystemV FS Paul B. Monday <pmonday@eecs.wsu.edu> March-June 1993
Coherent FS Pascal Haible <haible@izfm.uni-stuttgart.de> and
                B. Haible <haible@ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de> June 1993

and was merged together in July 1993.

Version 5 has been uploaded to
  ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de /pub/linux/sysvfs/
  sunsite.unc.edu /pub/Linux/Incoming/
                              soon /pub/Linux/system/Filesystems/sysv/

There is a separate set of kernel patches for each Linux kernel from
0.99.10 to 0.99.14.

It implements all kinds of System V like filesystems I know of (but not UFS).
If you are running a System V or Coherent or Xenix, this should make it
easier for you to move to Linux.

mkfs.sysv and fsck.sysv are not provided. The hard disk partitioning scheme
of Xenix requires separate patches.
