ISIS is a system for building reliable, distributed systems.  It is 
available from ftp.cs.cornell.edu as /pub/ISISV21.TAR.Z.  The patch
to run it under Linux is available for unc.sunsite.edu as
/pub/Linux/Incoming/isis.patch.gz.

Note: there is a problem if you use optimization with gcc 2.4.5 in
clib/ and protos/.  The threads library does not work with optimiztion
on.  I have not looked into the reason it fails, I have just turned
optimization off in these modules.
