Description: ftape-0.9.8a allows you to use tape drives that are conform to
	the QIC-117 standard (Ie: tape drives that connect to the floppy
	controller). The software is near the BETA stage now.

ftape-0.9.8a is now available from the following sites:
	* tsx-11.mit.edu: /pub/linux/ALPHA/QIC-80
	* sunsite.unc.edu: pub/Linux/kernel/tapes
	* nic.funet.fi: /pub/OS/Linux/BETA/QIC-80

The new release can boast of a working ECC code :-) and a losts of bug
fixes. Bas (the main author) considers it so stable now, that he uses it for
real backups! -- It is the hope that the next release will be a true BETA
release.

Supported drives include: Colorado DJ-10/DJ-20, Archive 5580i, Insight 80Mb,
Archive XL9250i, Conner C250MQ, Wangtek 3080F, Iomega 250, Escom/Archive
31250Q, Summit SE 150, Summit SE 250, Mountain FS8000.

You have to format your tapes under MS-D*S, as no formatting software is
written yet. Be aware that some DOS software are buggy, and cannot be used
for formatting tapes. These include Central Point Backup and CONNER's
software [they have a parameter off by one, 'tis said]. However, Colorado's
software is known to work correctly.
