Subject: ANNOUNCE: Postgres V. 4.1 ALPHA Port

When I started working to port Postgres to Linux, only version 4.0.1
was available. I was more keen on having the port done, than being
up to date, so I ignored Version 4.1 coming out.

After finishing 4.0.1, 4.1 was quite easy. However, Postgres V. 4.1
still has a strong tendency to crash, when multiple backends access
the same data. Some people have shown strong interrest in Postgres 4.1,
so I release this port, but I warn you not to store valuable data
with it, yet.

However, I will only release the diffs between original 4.1 source and
the linux port, for those, who are really interested. It is on

tsx-11.mit.edu:
	/pub/linux/ports/Postgres/postgres4.1.README
	/pub/linux/ports/Postgres/postgres4.1ALPHA.diff.z

ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de:
	/pub/linux/packages/postgres/postgres4.1.README
	/pub/linux/packages/postgres/postgres4.1ALPHA.diff.z

I also updated the original postgres.README (always get and read it,
too!) and the diffs between original and linux version for 4.0.1

PS: I am on vacation the next week, and there is almost no change to
meet an internetworking host this time. Please be patient, if I do
    not answer e-mail at once.
