XFree86 1.2 does not currently, nor will the forthcoming XFree86 1.3,
support local-bus (VLB) versions of the ET4000/W32. ISA-bus versions
appear to work fine with the pre-1.3 beta code. We do not yet have
any explanation for why this is happening - the ET4000/W32 is supposed
to be fully compatible with the ET4000.

We do not have access to this hardware, so a fix is not imminent. If
you KNOW register-level programming, have a VLB ET4000/W32, and are
willing to do serious hacking to try to fix this, please contact us
at <xfree86@physics.su.oz.au>. Note that this is not an invitation to
newbie hackers - you have to know a lot about what's going on to have
any chance of fixing this.

Or as an alternative, if there's anyone in the Central New Jersey area
who's willing to let me come hack the crap out of your machine, I can
make an attempt to fix it.
