Subject: New syslog(d) port. Uses a FIFO for local messages.

I have uploaded syslog-fifo.tar.z (gzipped) to sunsite.unc.edu.
Here is the README:

This is my port of the 386BSD syslog facility. I've been
using it without a hitch for quite a while. It uses a named
pipe for sending local messages instead of a unix domain
socket (which are not fully implemented in linux).

The "selling point" of this version of syslog is that it
does NOT require that you have a network, or even that the
network code is compiled into the kernel. Of course, it
works fine with a network too.
