vtprint is a utility that allows seamless printing from a remote host to
a printer attached to a terminal. This allows one to print documents
from say, work or school, to their printer at home, without downloading,
and exiting. From the user's point of view, it functions much like lpr
(but without some of the goodies that only make sense when using shared
printers -- such as banner pages), the main difference being prints are
sent to the users personal printer rather than a printer that may be far
away or that may have restricted access placed on it. vtprint is a
user-level utility.

I have made a beta pre-release of vtprint 1.3 available. I would
appreciate it if competent users of vtprint would download it, try it
out, and give me feedback. Notable changes to vtprint are inclusion of
the ability to convert CR/LF <-> LF line termination, and the ability to
use the TERM variable in conjuction with TERMINFO or TERMCAP to
determine the printer escape codes used, making it possible to use
vtprint with any terminal properly supported in the TERMINFO or TERMCAP
databases.

The beta release is available via anonymous ftp from netcom.com in
the directory /pub/garrett/beta/vtprint-1.3.beta.tar.gz.

Once again -- THIS IS A BETA RELEASE! It may very well have bugs or
problems. The general release v1.22 is still available as
/pub/garrett/vtprint-1.22.tar.gz.

Try it out, and let me know how it goes! Thanks!
