History of the project
----------------------

The linuxss project was initially started to port Linux to a single
server / microkernel implementation using Mach 3.0 as the microkernel.

After a few months the initial goal was splited into three different
related directions:

	- a linux sigle server
	- an ad hoc linux multiserver
	- add linux compatibility on the Hurd

What's new
----------

* ext2fs server

	An alpha read-only version of a Hurd compatible ext2fs server
is available at:

ftp://boole.info.polymtl.ca/pub/proj/linuxss/servers/ext2fs*.

	This was developped by myself from the ufs server code of the
Hurd and the ext2fs code of Linux. (A perfect example of a good use of
GPLed code, I think.)

	This answers some of the subgoals of an ad hoc multiserver and
a Hurd with added linux compatibility.

* Roadmap

This html page contains most of the information (or pointers to the
information) you need to build, Mach, the Hurd and the ext2fs server
and play with them. Look there:
