SUBJECT: THE VERY LATEST MOTIF, VERSION 1.2.4
                IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR LINUX.

A port of the OSF's Motif 1.2.4 GUI is available for
the first time for the Linux OS. The product, called
SWiM 1.2.4 , allows many Motif based applications
developed for Risc-Unix workstations to be
recompiled and run on Linux PC's.

Among other improvements Motif 1.2.4, which
SWiM is now based on, enables the Kanji (Japanese)
character set to be used in Motif applications for
the first time.

SWiM 1.2.4 is a complete runtime and development
environment providing all the necessary files to
develop OSF/MotifR 1.2.4 compatible applications .
It enables programmers and developers of Unix
applications which require Motif's Window Manager
and Static Libraries to develop and test these
applications on their Linux PC's before deploying
them on corporate Unix networks.

Previously only version 1.2.3 of motif had been
available to Linux users.

EACH PACKAGE INCLUDES:
-mwm (The Window Manager)
-Shared Library (libXm, libMrm) [Linux, FreeBSD]
-Static Libraries (libXm, libMrm and libUil)
-UIL Compiler
-Header and Include Files
-Complete On-line Manual Pages
-Source code to OSF/Motif demo programs
-Complete OSF/Motif Users Guide

LICENSING OF SWiM:
As a licensed copy of OSF's Motif 1.2.4 code, SWiM
1.2.4 users must abide by the OSF's license
agreement which, similar to other commercial
software licenses, include restrictions on running
SWiM on more than one computer at a time without
purchasing additional licenses. SWiM 1.2.4 is from
GUI Corporation, a licensee of the OSF.

CAN I DISTRIBUTE MY APPLICATIONS ROYALTY
FREE?
Yes, you are permitted to distribute your
applications created with SWiM as long as no
source, library, or file in the SWiM 1.2.4 package is
distributed. Statically linking your application
with the libXm or libMrm libraries for use only by
that application will permit you to pass your final
application binaries license-free on to other users
who may or may not have SWiM 1.2.4 libraries on
their system.
Step-by-step instructions in the Release Notes walk
you through the steps of compiling an application.
Examples are given for both static and dynamic
linking.

SWiM is also available for Coherent 4.2, BSD/386
1.1, FreeBSD 1.1, and NetBSD 0.9
