This is the first public announcement of g3vga version 0.5a for linux console.
It is a Group 3 FAX viewer for color consoles (B&W may be added eventually).
Reported to have the fastest decoder routines (faster than g3topbm, g3toxwd
etc..) courtesy of Ed Casas. It is mainy used for viewing incoming FAX'es
with programs like efax, mgetty+sendfax, before printing. It supports random
access to multiple page FAX documents (via a template), srolling and scaling.

Also included are general purpose vga routines (for svgalib) to give you
font/form/prompt/message/XPM/XBM capabilities which can be used in your svgalib
programs. Furthermore the display/scrolling routines are generic enough to
make it possible for you to be able to add image viewers and other display
programs (e.g. a vga_ghostview interface to ghostscript) very eaisly.

A demo program included demonstrates a login like interface for linux consoles
(like NeXT machines) which could also be used as a lockscreen.

You need the svgalib libraries and includes to be able to recompile.

It is currently on

	sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/g3vga-0.5a.tar.gz
or
	sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/apps/graphics/viewers/g3vga-0.5a.tar.gz

Manpage and .lsm are included in the .tar.gz package.

Please report bugs etc. to me.

Enjoy
